About

The EATSA – Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association is committed to the best practices in Tourism and Hospitality research. This is, to ensure high standards of international cooperation, with the aim to bolster the scientific knowledge in Tourism and Hospitality research.

The members of EATSA should agree to conduct their research, according to the same standards of research integrity, while respecting the laws and sovereignty of the States of all participating parties. In funded international projects, the promotion of good practice and the handling of any potential cases of misconduct, as recommended by the coordinating committee of the OECD Global Science Forum, should be followed.

Welcome to EATSA community webpage!

The Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association (EATSA) was designed to pave the way of cooperation for all tourism researchers of Europe and Asia, and to create an innovative and dynamic research network in the space of Euroasia.

If you are teaching and researching in tourism or hospitality and are looking for a good international network for cooperation, this invitation is addressed to you!

By joining this new research community, you can get several benefits, such as networking with members of the wider tourism research community, getting partners to enlarge the international scope of your research, and disseminating your work, among others.

The EATSA annual conferences go far beyond an ordinary scientific conference, as it can be demonstrated by taking a glance to the schedule of the EATSA conference – Italy 2020, in Sardinia. Following the good practices stablished in the previous annual conferences – Taiwan, 2015; Portugal, 2016; Japan, 2017; France, 2018; Turkey, 2019 – the 6th Annual Conference of EATSA – Italy 2020 will include a PhD & Masters Symposium, an EU Projects Session where members are the opportunity engage or co-create new EU Projects.

The EATSA annual meeting also have room for: (1) an informal debating of new ideas (see topic “Tourism Cafe Lab”), (2) sharing useful experience among researchers (see topic “How to Succeed with publications”), (3) coordinating activities (see topic “Organization Meeting”) and (4) for taking decisions and deliberations regarding the governance of EATSA (see topic “General Assembly”).

As it is stated in the EATSA’s statute  the governance of our Association respects the democratic principles, since all decision, including the election of the Direction Board, are made by a simple majority vote of members present. One of the most important decisions of the EATSA General Assembly concerns the choose of the Conference Host (University and country) for the next year. In order to organise an application to host the annual conference, applicants must take into consideration the Guidelines for Annual Conferences.

Aiming to improve the cohesiveness of EATSA network and to reinforce the attractiveness of EATSA Annual conferences, a new scientific journal is being created: the Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Journal (EATSJ). This is a multi-blind peer review journal, that will contribute to accomplish the EATSA’s mission and strengthen the curricula of EATSA members.

If you need more information (about the association EATSA, how to become member,  journal EATSJ or next conference), please contact us.
