The name of the Association is the Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Association (EATSA).

The aim of the Association is to promote research and education in the field of Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation studies in Asia and Europe, with special emphasis on international comparisons and the exchange of research results, practical experiences and ideas.
The Association is open to all persons and institutions from the world of academia, business and public administration who are interested in Tourism, Hospitality and Recreation in Asia and Europe.
Institutions may also become members, designating a representative. Each member and representative of an institution has the right to vote and is eligible for the Board.
The General Meeting decide annually the fee for membership.
At the moment the fees are:
The decision to admit new members rests with the Board. If an application to join is refused, the decision will be put before the annual general meeting.
Membership is terminated by a member’s written notice of resignation, by a member’s death or by failure to pay his/her membership fee.
The Association shall be governed by its board which shall consist of the following officers:
– President
He/she will represent the EATSA and shall be elected by the EATSA members in the General Assembly for a period of three years. The Presidency should alternate between members from Europe and Asia.
– Vice-President for Europe
He/she shall be elected by the EATSA European members for a period of three years. He/she supports the EATSA President in his/her tasks and deputize for the EATSA President. When the president is an Asian member, the Vice-President for Europe substitutes the president in all official acts taking place in Europe, if the president cannot attend.
– Vice-President for Asia
He/she shall be elected by the EATSA Asian members for a period of three years. He/she supports the EATSA President in his/her tasks and deputize for the EATSA President. When the president is a European member, the Vice-President for Asia substitutes the president in all official acts taking place in Europe, if the president cannot attend.
– Executive Secretary
He/she is treasurer and administers the Association. He/she shall be proposed by the EATSA Board and approved by the General Meeting for a period of three years.
– Conference Host
The Conference Host is a reputable researcher that guarantees the necessary organizational in his/her institution to host the annual conference. He/she shall be co-opted as a Board Member for the period concerned.
– Conference Chairs for Tourism Track, Hospitality Track and Recreation Track
The Conference Chairs are highly prestigious researchers in their specific domain, and their responsibility is to coordinate a specific track of the Conference. They shall be co-opted by the EATSA Board for the period concerned, following the proposal of the Conference Host.
– Manager of the EATSA-website
He/she is responsible for managing the website of the Association and shall be co-opted as a Board Member. He/she shall be proposed by the EATSA Board and approved by the General Meeting for a period of three years.
He/she audits annually the accounts prepared by the Executive Secretary and submits the results to the annual general meeting. He/she shall be elected by the General Meeting for a period of three years.
The Advisory Board advises the Direction Board about further development of the EATSA, makes proposals to the General Assembly about candidates for the Board and helps to promote discussions concerning research targets and further activities.
Members of the Advisory Board are elected by the General Assembly for a period of three years. The Committee has up to 30 members. Members residing in Europe and Asia should be equally represented. Each country where more than 50 members reside should be represented in the Advisory Board by at least one member.
The Advisory Board includes three type of members:
All decisions of the annual general meeting are made by a simple majority vote of members present. The decisions have to be published on the EATSA website. The annual general meeting takes place together with the annual conference.
