Enrico Panai

President of EATSA

Enrico Panai is an AI Ethicist and Human Information Interaction Specialist and an independent researcher in Cyber Geography and Ethics of Information. Following his studies philosophy of information and a multi-year experience as a consultant in Italy, he taught for several years as an adjunct professor of Digital Humanities in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sassari. Since his move to France in 2007, he has been working as a consultant for large corporations. In 2017, he studied Strategies for Cyber Security Awareness at the Institut National de Hautes Etudes de la Sécurité et de la Justice [Institute for Advanced Studies in Security and Justice] at the Ecole Militaire in Paris. In 2018, he started a new PhD in Geoeconomics and Geopolitics at the Department of Humanities and Social Science (DUMAS) of the University of Sassari (Italy where he is investigating the geoeconomics and geopolitical opportunities and the weakness of tourism destinations at the Environment, Territory, Data Analysis Lab. Kevser Çınar

Vice-president for Asia

Kevser Çınar holds a PhD degree in Tourism Management from Necmettin Erbakan University, Turkey. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism Management. Çınar graduated from Middle East Technical University in 2003. She holds a master’s degree (2013) and doctoral degree (2017) from Necmettin Erbakan University.  She has also been working as EU Projects expert for 14 years and she has taken part in several different international EU projects so far-gained a good understanding of what is required of a project expert both in Turkey and in Europe. She has been involved in European higher education strategic partnership projects such as  TOURBAN, TOURIBOOST as coordinator and SCOUT, E-GAME as a partner. She is experienced enough in writing projects, implementing its activities, and coordination of them. She is also certified at curriculum development program by the Institute of Educational Sciences. Her project and research topics are about innovation in tourism, consumer behavior and tourism education. She is the chief editor of EATSJ, Euro-Asia Tourism Studies Journal. She is a Tedx speaker. She has been invited as keynote speaker, trainer and workshop facilitator in various national and international events and project meetings in several different countries.

Desmond Wee

Vice-President for Europe

Desmond Wee is Professor of Tourism at the Cologne Business School (CBS) in Germany. His research interests explore contemporary tourism theories in cultural studies and the social sciences, focusing on visual, reflexive and embodied methodologies in the making of everyday identities in urban spaces. He is currently working on a series of projects dedicated to ‘walking’ and envisioning how ‘European’ identity can be seen from without, through the eyes of the other. As Academic Dean of International Tourism Management, his passion lies in creating projects merging teaching, research and learning, encouraging students to venture outside the classroom to study tourism through engaging tourism.

Anne-Marie Lebrun is Associate Professor in the University of Burgundy. Her research interests and publications are in the field of consumer behavior in tourism; sport tourism; social representation and brand.

Ali Afshar

Prof. Ali Afshar holds a PhD in architectural studies from University Putra Malaysia. He is a first class registered architect with more than 20 years of professional experiences in Iran. His researches focus on a substantial amount of investigation in vernacular architecture and tourism studies and their application in scientific and business problems. He demonstrates the feasibility of his ideas by implementing the knowledge of vernacular architecture and integrating it into the architectural design of recreational complexes, hotels and second homes in tourism destinations of the country. His contributions have been published in number of journal articles and refereed conference papers. At the moment, he is a member of the board and the head of research and development department of SABAT Kish Company. He is also teaching as invited lecturer in some university in Iran.

Dorothea PAPATHANASIOU ZUHRT

Research Officer

Dr. Dorothea PAPATHANASIOU ZUHRT holds degrees in Classics and Germanistics from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has studied History and Ethnology at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where she also obtained an M.A. degree in Psycholinguistics. She earned her M.Sc. in Tourism Planning and her Ph.D. degree in Heritage Management at the University of the Aegean. She has studied Tourism Planning at the Universita Autonoma di Barcelona and Universita Ca Foscari Venezia. She is fluent in English, German, French, Italian, and Russian and has basic knowledge of Turkish. Her technical work experience is closely related to the development and implementation EU funded projects with over 100 applications in the last 20 years (Erasmus+; ERDF; ETCP; COSME; H2020; ENI/ENPI; ESF etc.). She is active in the tertiary education teaching Heritage Policy and Management at the Hellenic Open University and Cultural Policy and Development at the Cyprus Open University. As an active researcher she has produced more than 100 publications in the last 20 years. She is founding member of INTERPRET EUROPE, the European Association for the interpretation of heritage, resulting the C.I.P. Leader+ in 2008, and a voting member at EUROPEANA and EUROPEANA Research. Since 2010 she is actively working in the Cultural and Creative Industries with focus on digital publishing for heritage education and cultural tourism. She joined ARTIFACTORY in 2016, where she works in regional development with focus on cultural heritage and audiovisual productions.
